Plant-Based Sestina Pasta Bar Has Us Craving All The Carbs

Dreaming of vegan food that’s out of reach constantly is how we do our job. One of the destinations on our travel-for-food-wishlist is Matthew Kenney’s pasta bar concept Sestina.

If Los Angeles or New York is your home turf or a soon-to-visit destination, add this one to your schedule.

The magic of carbs, am I right?

With our main office in Berlin, Germany, we find ourselves drooling over Instagram posts of destinations all over the world constantly. That’s how we approach editorial planning, basically.

We Knew Matthew Kenney Must Be Behind It

One of those destinations popping up in our feed constantly as a total thumb-stopper is Sestina, a pasta bar that had us craving their savory-looking Italian-inspired plant-based dishes from afar for quite some time.

That is not an accident. Sestina is the brainchild of no other than Matthew Kenney — which makes it one of some 25 different restaurant concepts Kenney’s company has been establishing throughout 24 cities in 5 continents.

“Fully plant-based adaptions of universally loved Italian fare.”

Sestina is the Matthew Kenney Cuisine interpretation of a pasta bar, “inspired by the elegant and familiar cuisine of Italy”, but featuring fully “plant-based adaptions of universally loved Italian fare,” says the restaurant’s website.

On the menu: Creative dishes that revolve around the fresh, house-made pasta and desserts, accompanied by a fine selection of sustainable wines.

There’s a Pasta Party in Your Future

With one restaurant in NYC, two in LA and third location in Orlando, it’s going to be a while until we’ll be able to celebrate an Italian feast with the whole team, but our NYC editor has been testing the goods for us and gave the thumbs-up for a team event at a Sestina restaurant (while trying to not look too satisfied and happy on the Zoom call to not bum us out – thanks!).

One of these days, when travel restrictions are lifted, we’re SO there!

Bring on the carbs, Matthew!
